Aflao (V/R), Sept 10, GNA — The SAMGLOKUSH Foundation in the Ketu South Municipality has organised the second edition of its BECE Success Summit, bringing together more than 500 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates to prepare them mentally and practically for their transition to Senior High School (SHS).
The summit, held at the Pentecostal Revival Centre of the Assemblies of God Church, Aflao, was on the theme: “Think Right, Act Right and Succeed – Building Habits for a Successful Future.”
The initiative sought to broaden the graduates’ understanding of success beyond academic certificates by encouraging positive thinking, creativity, discipline, confidence and purposeful living.
The graduates and 60 parents participated in the programme, which featured seven speakers who took the students through interactive sessions on personal development and habits needed for a successful SHS experience.
Reverend James Solaga, the Lead Pastor of Kingdom Light Chapel, addressed the students on growth mindset and encouraged them to develop positive attitudes, surround themselves with positive environments and associate with people who would inspire them to grow.
Dr Elliott Agbenorwu, a former Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive, spoke on strategic planning and discipline, urging the graduates to cultivate self-discipline and make plans for their future.
Mr Divine Kporha, the Volta and Oti Regional Director of the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA), encouraged the students to remain curious, ask questions and give their best in their various endeavours.
Mr Giddalt Kunakey, the Chief Executive Officer of Genius Link, challenged the students to develop solution-thinking abilities by confronting challenges and looking for practical solutions to problems within their communities.
Reverend David Kporha, the Resident Pastor of the Assemblies of God, Pentecostal Revival Centre, spoke on confidence and resilience, reminding the graduates that setbacks were part of the journey to success and should not discourage them from pursuing their goals.
Rev Godwin Debrah, who brought the sessions to a close, focused on purpose and personal leadership, urging the students to identify their purpose and take responsibility for the direction of their lives.
The speakers collectively encouraged the graduates to develop habits that would support their academic progress and personal growth as they entered a new phase of their education.
Some of the graduates, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), expressed satisfaction at the summit, saying the sessions had equipped them with useful knowledge and confidence for their transition to the Senior High Schools of their choice.
Some parents who participated in the programme also commended the Foundation for the initiative and pledged to support their wards to develop positive habits, remain disciplined and apply the lessons gained from the summit.
They called for continued support from stakeholders for educational initiatives that prepared young people not only academically but also mentally and socially for the future.
The summit ended with an encouragement to the graduates to apply the lessons learnt by thinking positively, making responsible decisions and remaining consistent in their pursuit of their goals.
