Asokore-Mampong (Ash), July 10, GNA – Mr Ben Abdullah Alhassan, the Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong, has expressed disappointment at a low turnout of residents, especially those around the Aboabo Post Office and the Airport Roundabout, in Kumasi, on the first of the two-day national clean-up exercise.

He said it was unfortunate that, some residents, especially those around the Aboabo Post Office and the Airport roundabout, who had left huge heaps of refuse on their premises, were not taking part in the exercise to clean their area

Speaking during a tour of some communities to observe the clean-up exercise, Mr Alhassan said individuals who would be identified to have refused to actively participate in the exercise would be prosecuted.

The Municipal Chief Executive warned residents against breaching the directives on the national clean-up exercise announced by President John Mahama.

Mr Ben Abdullah Alhassan, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), speaking during a tour of some communities to observe the clean-up exercise on the first day, said individuals who would be identified to have refused to actively participate in the exercise would be prosecuted.

He stated that the two-day sanitation exercise declared by the government was compulsory for every Ghanaian and must therefore be strictly complied with.

He further noted that the Asokore-Mampong Municipality deployed more than 150 staff members for the first day’s exercise.

The Assembly, in collaboration with other agencies, undertook the exercise following a directive from the President declaring Friday, July 10 and Saturday July 11, 2026, for a nation-wide cleaning exercise in the aftermath of floods that affected Accra and other communities across the geographical regions of Ghana on June 20, 2026.

The MCE said that he expected an extensive turnout on day two, which would be Saturday, July 11, 2026.
