Jasikan (O/R), July 10, GNA-A total of 840 delegates will cast their ballots in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Buem Constituency executives’ election scheduled for July 11, 2026, at Jasikan in the Oti Region.
The election will see 28 candidates contesting various executive positions to steer the affairs of the party in the constituency for the next four years.
The Chairmanship is being contested by two aspirants, while six aspirants are vying for the Second Vice-Chairmanship position, making it one of the keenly contested portfolios.
Two aspirants are contesting the positions of Constituency Secretary, Communications Officer, Youth Organiser and Treasurer, while three aspirants each are seeking election as Women Organiser and Deputy Secretary, with four candidates contesting the Constituency Organiser position.
However, the positions of First Vice-Chairman and Nasara Coordinator have already been decided unopposed, with Engineer Wisdom Gomashie and Mr Kamal Fuseini, respectively, set to assume office.
Mr Patrick Dzidzornu, Buem Constituency Research and Elections Officer, disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Jasikan.
He said voting would take place at the Assembly Hall of Bueman Senior High School (BUSEC), where delegates from the various electoral areas and party structures within the constituency would elect new executives.
Mr Dzidzornu said the party had put in place the necessary logistical and security arrangements to ensure a peaceful, transparent and credible election and expressed confidence that the exercise would be conducted in an atmosphere of unity and fairness, urging delegates to comport themselves throughout the process.
Mr Dzidzornu also appealed to all aspirants and their supporters to campaign on issues and uphold the values of respect and tolerance before, during and after the election.
He advised them to refrain from insults, personal attacks, name-calling and acts capable of creating division within the party, stressing that the contest was an internal democratic exercise among members of one political family.
“The election should strengthen, rather than divide, the party. We expect every candidate and supporter to accept the outcome in good faith and work together towards the growth of the party,” he said.
Mr Dzidzornu called on delegates to vote peacefully and in accordance with the party’s electoral guidelines, reminding them that the conduct of the election would reflect the maturity and democratic credentials of the constituency.
He expressed optimism that the successful conduct of the election would further position the party to strengthen its grassroots structures and prepare adequately for future political activities in the constituency.
The NPP is conducting constituency executive elections across the country as part of efforts to reorganise its structures and elect new leaders to manage the affairs of the party at the constituency level.
