Western Regional Minister commends Lions for partnering government in development

Takoradi, June 02, GNA – Mr. Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, has highly commended the role of the Lions Club International in ensuring holistic national development aspirations.  

He said: “We are happy that you continue to inspire hope, put out practical ideas and deepen community engagement to drive change.” 

Mr. Nelson, at the seventh district convention of the Club held in Takoradi in the Western Region, said achieving the tenets and targets of the sustainable development goals was not through the government alone. 

“Your work aligns with these national priorities, and we are grateful for improving human dignity across communities,” he said. 

The District 418 convention was on theme: “Every Lion Counts” to drive inclusion and new entrants an aim to reach some one point five million membership across the globe. 

Nana Egya Kwamina XI, who represented the President of the Western Regional House of Chief, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, urged the club to keep serving their communities with compassion, integrity and selflessness. 

Lion Prince Obeng-Dwamena, former District Governor called on the club to continue building bridges between bigger ones and the growing ones in the rural areas…Let’s lead differently; encourage success by belonging and inclusion of younger clubs.”  

Mr. Paul Steele, the Regional Development Manager for Africa and Europe, urged them to represent their communities in the spirit of love, peace, hospitality and other shared values of the club. 

The group elected Mr Ebo-Prah Manson as the new District Governor for the 2026-2027 service year and donated outboard motor and other accessories to Nzulezu, the village on water, to boost tourism in the Region.
