Volta Regional Political Coordinator inspects ongoing development projects across region

Ho (V/R), June 17, GNA – The Volta Regional Political Coordinator has embarked on a regional inspection tour of ongoing development projects to assess progress, interact with contractors and workers, and reaffirm government’s commitment to see an expedited infrastructure development across the region. 

Mr Siki Abibu, the Coordinator disclosed to the Ghana News Agency that the first phase of the tour, which commenced in the Afadzato South District, and with the support District Chief Executive (DCE), inspected the Agordome-Konda and Vuita-Leklebi roads, both of which are being upgraded to improve accessibility and enhance economic activities in that enclave. 

The team also visited several other projects currently under construction within the district. 

At the Hohoe Municipality, the Coordinator inspected the ongoing University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) school project, the Fodome-Hohoe road network and other development initiatives aimed at improving education and transportation infrastructure. 

The tour continued to the Kpando Municipality, where the team assessed progress on the Kpando-Tokor road project and interacted with workers on site. The coordinator commended the workforce for their dedication and encouraged them to maintain the pace of work to ensure timely completion. 

In the South Dayi District, he joined district authorities to inspect key projects, including the College of Health and Allied Sciences project, the Affordable Housing Project at Kpeve, infrastructure developments at Kpali Senior High School and sections of the Eastern Corridor Road. 

He urged contractors to maintain high standards and deliver quality work in line with the government’s development agenda. 

The inspection team also visited the Ho West District, where ongoing works on the Asikuma-Tsito and Anyirawase-Abutia roads, as well as school infrastructure projects, were assessed. 

The coordinator encouraged contractors and project engineers to intensify their efforts and assured them of government support to facilitate successful completion of the projects. 

In the Ho Municipality, attention was focused on major infrastructure projects, including the UHAS access road, the Ho-Tritrinu road and the TDC Affordable Housing Project. 

The Coordinator expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and praised contractors and engineers for their commitment to meeting project timelines. 

The tour further covered the Agotime-Ziope District, Akatsi North, Akatsi South and Ketu North municipalities and districts, where ongoing road and community development projects were inspected. 

During interactions with workers, the coordinator listened to concerns regarding project implementation and assured them that government remained committed to addressing challenges that could affect project delivery. 

The inspection exercise concluded at the Blekusu Sea Defence Project in the Keta Municipality, where the coordinator assessed progress on ongoing coastal protection works, including the construction of groynes designed to protect vulnerable coastal communities from tidal waves and erosion. 

Throughout the tour, the coordinator commended contractors, engineers, and labourers for their hard work and dedication to the successful execution of government projects. 

He also encouraged contractors to prioritise the recruitment of local residents to create employment opportunities and ensure that communities directly benefited from projects being implemented in their areas. 

Among the major projects inspected were the 3.8-kilometre Agordome-Konda Road being undertaken by Elsika Construction, the 24.07-kilometre Vuita-Leklebi Road being executed by Sanam Ghana Limited, the Asikuma-Tsito Road project, the Anyirawase-Bame-Kpeve Road, the Penyi-Aflao Road, the Kpetoe-Ave-Afiadenyigba Road project, the Ho-Kpetoe Road and the TDC Affordable Housing Project. 

The tour highlighted government’s continued investment in road infrastructure, housing, education, health and coastal protection projects aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of residents across the Volta Region. 

Mr Siki reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring that all projects were completed within schedule and to the required standards for the benefit of the people of the Volta Region.
