Ho (V/R), Aug. 25, GNA – The Beach Soccer Committee of the Volta Regional Football Association (RFA) has unveiled an ambitious programme for the 2026/27 season aimed at strengthening the region’s position as a leading destination for beach soccer development, competition and sports tourism.

The programme, presented by Mr Innocent Kumensah, Member in Charge of Technical and Competitions, has been adopted as the blueprint for the promotion and development of beach soccer across the Volta Region during the season.

Key activities outlined in the programme include the 2026/27 Regional Beach Soccer League, the Hogbe Cup, an international beach soccer tournament, coach and referee development initiatives, school-based competitions, and programmes to enhance women’s and girls’ participation in the sport.

Mr Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe, Chairman of the Volta RFA Beach Soccer Committee, said the programme provided a clear roadmap for the Committee’s activities and reflected its vision for the sustained growth of beach soccer in the region.

“Our focus is to structurally develop beach soccer at every level in the region and re-establish Volta as the central beach soccer destination in Ghana and the West African sub-region,” he said.

Mr Adjahoe said the Committee’s strategy went beyond organising competitions and included the training and certification of coaches and referees, talent identification and development, stakeholder engagement, media partnerships and opportunities for international exposure.

According to the programme, team registration and verification will take place between August and September 2026, followed by coach and referee training and certification programmes from September to October 2026.

The Committee will also engage stakeholders and the media ahead of the official commencement of the season in October 2026.

The Regional Beach Soccer League and the Hogbe Cup are scheduled to commence in November 2026.

A School Beach Soccer Programme will run from November 2026 to June 2027 to identify and nurture young talents while promoting grassroots participation in the sport.

The Women and Girls Beach Soccer Programme is also expected to run from December 2026 to May or June 2027 as part of efforts to expand participation and create more opportunities for female athletes.

An international beach soccer tournament has been scheduled for March 2027, while the Regional League playoffs and grand final are expected to be held in May 2027.

The season will climax with a School and Women’s Beach Soccer Showcase in June 2027.

The Committee said implementation of the programme would create a structured development pathway for players, coaches, referees and clubs while enhancing grassroots participation and talent identification.

It expressed confidence that the region’s rich beach soccer heritage would provide a strong foundation for achieving its vision of establishing the Volta region as a year-round hub for beach soccer development, competitions, talent identification and sports tourism.
