Tema, June 30, GNA — Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, the Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, has described the proposed Tema Integrated Industrial Park (TIIP) as a strategic engine that will accelerate Ghana’s industrialisation, create jobs, attract investment and strengthen the country’s economic transformation agenda.
“I dare say that the Tema Integrated Industrial Park is not only an infrastructure project; it is a strategic economic engine that translates policy into tangible, large-scale opportunity,” Mr Adjei stated.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the project in Tema, the Minister said the industrial park represented not just the beginning of another construction project, but the foundation of a more productive, resilient and competitive economy built on manufacturing, value addition and innovation.
The project is spearheaded by the TDC Ghana Limited, Ghana Integrated Aluminum Development Corporation and Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms under the patronage of President John Dramani Mahama.
Mr Adjei praised the president for what he described as visionary leadership and a strong commitment to repositioning Ghana as a leading industrial hub in West Africa, saying that sustainable economic growth could only be achieved through increased production, innovation and strategic investment in modern infrastructure.
He explained that the Tema Integrated Industrial Park was a practical demonstration of that vision and would provide world-class infrastructure to support manufacturing, processing, logistics and export-driven businesses.
He said the project was expected to attract significant domestic and foreign investment while strengthening local value chains and creating opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises, adding that the development would also generate thousands of decent jobs for Ghanaians as well as improve the country’s competitiveness in international trade.

The minister further stated that the industrial park aligned strongly with the government’s 24-Hour Economy policy, explaining that industrial parks were designed to support continuous production and business activities throughout the day and night.
He said round the clock operations would increase productivity, make better use of infrastructure, create employment through multiple work shifts and improve the efficiency of logistics and other support services.
He also commended Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms for bringing its experience in developing integrated industrial ecosystems across Africa, saying that the partnership between Arise, TDC Ghana Limited and the Ghana Integrated Aluminum Development Corporation demonstrated international confidence in Ghana’s economy and investment potential.
Mr Adjei said the project would create opportunities for employment, skills development and entrepreneurship and encouraged young people to prepare themselves by acquiring relevant technical and vocational skills that would enable them to benefit from the opportunities expected to emerge when the park becomes operational.
He stressed that industrial parks play an important role in national development as they bring industries together in one location, allowing companies to share infrastructure and services while reducing production costs, adding that such arrangements improve efficiency, encourage innovation and increase exports, all of which contribute to economic growth.
The Minister said the sod-cutting ceremony reflected the country’s determination to build an economy that produces more goods locally, increases exports, creates sustainable employment and improves the standard of living for citizens.
He expressed appreciation to all institutions and partners that contributed to the realisation of the project and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for its successful implementation, adding that the Tema Integrated Industrial Park would lay the foundation for a stronger industrial sector, a more diversified economy and a more prosperous future for Ghana.
