NPP opens nominations for constituency executive elections on June 22

Accra, June 17, GNA – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will open nominations for its constituency executive elections on Monday, June 22, 2026, and close them on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. 

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the Party, outlining updated arrangements for the elections to be conducted at constituency delegates’ conferences across the country. 

The statement said aspirants for the position of Constituency Chairman would pay a nomination fee of GH¢1,500, while candidates for First Vice Chairman and Second Vice Chairman positions would pay GH¢1,000 each.  

All other contestants, including those vying for Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women Organiser, Youth Organiser, Nasara Organiser and Communication Officer, would pay GH¢500 each. 

The Party said nomination forms should be obtained from Constituency Elections Committees or constituency offices.  

Aspirants may also download forms from the Party’s website, www.newpatrioticparty.org.  

Candidates who download forms online are required to pay the applicable fee through the Party’s online portal, member.nppghana.org, after which an electronic receipt must be submitted with the completed forms. 

Eligibility requirements include being a registered member of the Party in the constituency where the individual intends to contest, being in good standing with all membership dues fully paid, and residing and voting in the constituency.  

Aspirants must also have demonstrated active party membership in the constituency for at least two years and must not have forfeited their membership. 

Applicants seeking election as Constituency Secretary, Research Officer or Electoral Affairs Officer must possess at least a diploma or higher qualification. 

The statement noted that constituency election committees would vet all aspirants and conduct the elections, while the Electoral Commission would supervise the process in accordance with the Political Parties Act, 2000 (Act 574). 

Positions to be contested include Constituency Chairman, First Vice Chairman, Second Vice Chairman, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women Organiser, Youth Organiser, Nasara Organiser and Communication Officer.
