Odomase, (Bono), June 30, GNA-A senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region, Mr Yaw Dabie Appiah Mensah has called on the party to improve its regional communication systems.
He said the party’s communications ought to be directed towards identifying, highlighting and helping to tackle the emerging needs of local communities.
Mr Mensah, also a member of the Bono Regional Council of Elders of the party, urged the communicators to also monitor the implementation of government policies and programmes at the community levels.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Odomase in the Sunyani West Constituency, Mr Mensah said the NPP required strong communications directorates at the regional levels to interrogate the government’s policies and social interventions programmes.
“We don’t just pick communicators, but we must rather ensure that outspoken and discerning minds lead our communication directorates because they can either make our party attractive or unattractive in the eyes of the masses”, he stated.
Mr Mensah emphasised that a strong opposition party communicated on issues, criticize the government constructively and to impact society positively.
“We can measure our successes while in opposition only if we are able to push the government to tackle the development needs of the people”, he stated.
Mr Mensah also advised the NPP to continue to market its Election 2028 Flagbearer, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to the masses, urging the flagbearer to also do more to make the NPP formidable for the next General Election.
