Ketu North MP mourns UCC student found dead at Beach

Akatsi (VR), June 14, GNA – Mr Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament for Ketu North, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a University of Cape Coast (UCC) student who was found dead at a beach after she had been declared missing for several days. 

The deceased, identified as Innocentia Avinu, is a native of Dzodze in the Volta Region and a beneficiary of a scholarship scheme. 

“I am completely distraught by the news of the young UCC student who was found dead at a beach after she had been missing for days,” Mr Agbana said in a statement. 

He noted that he last met the student in March during a scholarship award ceremony for selected students. 

He described Innocentia’s death as devastating, especially given his close relationship with the family. 

Mr Agbana, who also described himself as a friend of the family of the deceased, expressed hope that the Police would swiftly investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring any perpetrators involved to justice. 

He further extended condolences to the bereaved family, especially the mother and siblings of the deceased, praying for strength for them in this difficult moment. 

“I am reliably informed that the Police are investigating this incident, and I hope they swiftly apprehend and bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice,” he added. 

Meanwhile, Police have reportedly commenced investigations into the circumstances leading to the death of the student. 

The tragic incident has sparked grief among colleagues, friends, and members of the Dzodze community.
