Wales, June 2,(Redazione/Adnkronos/GNA) – Welsh actor Owain Rhys Davies, known to the general public for his role as Agent Wilson in the revival of the “Twin Peaks” series, the cult series created by David Lynch and Mark Frost and returned to screens in 2017, has died at 44.
The news, as reported by the BBC, was given by his brother Rhodri, who wrote on social media that the actor passed away “suddenly, naturally and peacefully.” In his message, Rhodri also expressed the family’s deep sorrow: “I am incredibly proud of my brother. We know this loss will be felt by many people and it comforts us to know how much he was loved.”
His brother also asked for privacy, adding that “unanswered questions remain about the circumstances of his death.”
Owain Rhys Davies was best known for his performance in “Twin Peaks”, but he had also taken part in other international productions. These include the Netflix sci-fi series “The OA”, with Brit Marling and Jason Isaacs, the film “Alice Through the Looking Glass” and the horror comedy “A Serial Killer’s Guide to Life”.
The official “Twin Peaks” profile also remembered him with a message of condolence: “Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all who knew and loved him. Thank you for being part of the Twin Peaks world, Agent Wilson.”
Tributes also came from the Welsh National Theatre, which called the actor “an extraordinary talent whose work enriched Welsh theatre and screen.” The note reads: “His passion, creativity and dedication have left a lasting mark on the cultural life of Wales.
The artistic community is poorer for his loss and we can only imagine the many stories he would still have told.” The message concludes with a Welsh farewell: “Cysga’n dawel, Owain” (rest in peace, Owain).
