Nkwanta (O/R), June 27, GNA – Most Reverend Simon Kofi Appiah, Bishop of the Jasikan Catholic Diocese, and a delegation have paid a working visit to the Nkwanta South Municipality to promote lasting peace following ethnic disagreements and hostilities in the area.

The visit forms part of efforts to engage key stakeholders and encourage dialogue aimed at restoring peace, unity, and social cohesion in the municipality.

During their stay, the delegation will interact with chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth groups, and members of various communities to promote peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.

Bishop Appiah said the delegation would visit communities including Abrewankor, Nyambong, Pawa, Gekrong, Odomi, and others as part of its peace-building mission.

He noted that the engagements would provide residents with the opportunity to openly share their concerns, grievances, and experiences regarding the ongoing conflict affecting their communities.

The Bishop said the discussions were expected to generate first-hand information that would contribute to finding practical and lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the municipality.

Mr Joseph Awal Antwi, the Municipal Chief Executive, who welcomed the Bishop and his team, expressed his support for the initiative.

He described the peace mission as timely, saying it had the potential to strengthen ongoing efforts to restore harmony and stability in the municipality.

Mr Antwi called on all residents to actively participate in the engagements, stressing that peace was a shared responsibility and that development could only thrive in an atmosphere of unity, security, and mutual understanding.

“This visit by Most Rev. Simon Kofi Appiah is a significant step towards fostering reconciliation and building a peaceful future for the people of the municipality. I believe it is a step in the right direction,” he said.
