Accra, June 2, GNA – The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has strongly refuted claims that it plans to sell its newly constructed headquarters at Ridge in Accra.

In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, the Bank said it had taken note of a publication online by a private radio station on Monday, June 1, 2026, titled: “Bank of Ghana considering sale of new $260m headquarters – sources.”

The Bank described the report as false and misleading.

“The Bank of Ghana categorically states that this report is untrue,” it said, adding: “The Bank is not considering, discussing, or planning the sale of its new headquarters.”

The statement said the facility was commissioned to support the Bank’s operations and enhance efficiency in the delivery of its statutory mandate. It emphasised that the building remains a critical asset of the institution.

The Bank urged the public and the media to disregard the publication, warning that unverified reports of this nature have the potential to undermine public confidence in Ghana’s financial system and create unnecessary market uncertainty.

It reiterated its commitment to transparency and indicated that official communication would continue to be disseminated through its verified channels, including the Bank’s website (bog.gov.gh), official social media platforms, press releases from the Communications Department, and signed statements from the Secretary of the Bank.

“The media is encouraged to seek clarification from the Bank before publishing information relating to its operations,” the statement added.
