Kadjebi (O/R), June 23, GNA – Mr Francis Apawu, Chairman of the Oti Regional branch of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has declared his intention to seek re-election, citing significant achievements recorded during his first term in office.
He said his administration prioritised the welfare of members and strengthened the regional secretariat through a number of impactful initiatives.
Mr Apawu disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kadjebi, as preparations gather momentum towards the Oti Regional CLOGSAG elections scheduled for July 2026.
He said under his leadership, the region successfully established a permanent regional secretariat, making Oti the first among the six newly created regions to acquire its own office.
Mr Apawu noted that his administration also introduced a Health Insurance Welfare Scheme for members, a GHS2,000 terminal health support package, enhanced funeral donation benefits, and instituted a May Day Awards Scheme to recognise outstanding members for their dedication and service.
He said the welfare interventions had improved members’ confidence in the Association and provided timely support during periods of need.
Looking ahead, Mr Apawu said his next administration would focus on implementing innovative programmes aimed at improving the economic well-being of members.
He said a key priority was the establishment of a CLOGSAG poultry farm at Dambai, starting with 1,000 birds, to generate additional income for the Association and empower members to become more self-reliant rather than depending solely on the National Secretariat for financial assistance.
“Our welfare remains our top priority. We are committed to introducing sustainable interventions that will improve the lives of our members,” he said.
Mr Apawu appealed to delegates to renew the mandate of “Team Apawu” during the July 2026 regional elections to enable the team to consolidate its achievements and implement its vision for the Association.
He assured members that if re-elected, his administration would continue to pursue policies that promote transparency, accountability, unity, and improved welfare for all members in the Region.
