Matse-Dzobi (V/R), May 22, GNA – Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, together with Mr Stephen Adom, Municipal Chief Executive of Ho, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has paid a condolence visit to the Matse-Dzobi Traditional Council following the passing of the Paramount Chief, Togbega Osei Tutu VI.
The visit, which took place ahead of the late Paramount Chief’s final burial rites scheduled for Saturday, was to sympathise with the chiefs, elders and people of the traditional area during their period of mourning.
As part of the visit, the delegation presented assorted items to the traditional council as a gesture of solidarity and support to the bereaved community.
Speaking Ghana News Agency (GNA) during the engagement, Mr Gunu conveyed the condolences of the Government and the NDC party to the people of Matse-Dzobi and praised the traditional council for the peaceful way the transition process had been handled.
“We are here on behalf of the President and the NDC party to commiserate with the chiefs and people of Matse-Dzobi over the loss of your Paramount Chief. We also commend the peaceful and dignified way the transition process has been conducted,” he stated.
The Regional Minister noted that the unity and harmony demonstrated by the people throughout the process, particularly in the selection of a new chief without disputes, was worthy of commendation and should serve as an example to other traditional areas.


“The peace and unity being exhibited here are exemplary. It is refreshing to see a traditional area go through such a process without chieftaincy disputes,” he added.
Chiefs and elders of the Matse-Dzobi Traditional Council expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit and the show of support during the difficult period.
They also used the occasion to invite the general public to attend the final funeral rites and burial of the late Paramount Chief scheduled for Saturday.
