Sunyani (Bono), May 25, GNA – Agricwealth Ghana, a youth-focused and impact-driven agricultural organisation, has announced plans to empower one million young people to engage in agribusiness within the next five years.
Reverend Evans Kyere-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, said it had already trained and supported more than 20,000 youth to venture into agribusiness.
He disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the closing session of the 2026 Ghana Youth Agriculture Summit held in Sunyani.
Rev Kyere-Mensah noted that Ghana’s agriculture sector held significant potential to address rising youth unemployment, urging greater investment and attention to make the sector more attractive to the youth.
He re-emphasised Agricwealth Ghana’s commitment to equipping young people with the requisite skills and opportunities to establish businesses along the agricultural value chain.
The summit, organised by Agricwealth Ghana, was held at the Sunyani Technical University.
It brought together youth, policymakers, agribusiness professionals, development partners, educators, and industry players.
Held on the theme: “Youth, Agribusiness and Economic Transformation,” the event provided a platform for stakeholders to explore opportunities, reshape perceptions, and drive innovation for job and wealth creation in the agriculture sector.
Rev Kyere-Mensah emphasised the importance of modernising agriculture to enhance productivity and make the sector more appealing to young people.
He added that Agricwealth Ghana was focused on bridging the gap between farmers and young agripreneurs to boost investor confidence and strengthen the agricultural ecosystem.
According to him, the summit also aimed to promote networking, improve livelihoods, and encourage unemployed youth to take advantage of opportunities in agribusiness.
