Presbyterian University, Ghana confers degrees on 627 graduates

Kwahu-Abetifi (E/R), May 2, GNA-The Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG), School of Graduate Studies and Research has conferred degrees on 627 graduates with a charge to make a difference in the society. 

They comprised of 365 males and 265 females from eight diverse programs including Masters in Education, Science and Environmental Health, International Development and Public Health studies. 

The Right Reverend Nana Opare Kwakye, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) and Chancellor of the University, reminded the graduates of the Presbyterian discipline centered on Christ and urged them to make a difference. 

He said society today lacked integrity and admonished the graduates not to do business as usual but work with diligence and commitment to change the moral direction of the country. 

He mentioned illegal mining activities (Galamsey) and corruption describing it as “the demons of our time” and charged all graduates to help eliminate them for the betterment of society. 

Whiles our part of the world presented its unique set of trials from economic uncertainties to social justice and others, a window of opportunities remained for the diligent and hard working. 

Professor John Ofosu Anim, the Vice Chancellor of the University observed that the number of graduate programmes on offer had grown over the past years from seven to 18 representing a growth of 157%.  

He described each programme from which they were graduating as integral to the fabric of our society and the advancement of our nation.  

“Their contributions are vital in all spheres of our national development, creating healthier communities and promoting sustainable practices” he added. 

The Vice Chancellor reminded the graduates that education was not merely about personal advancement but contributing to the common good and making a difference in the lives of others.
