Dormaa-Ahenkro (Bono), May 28, GNA – Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Haruna Dauda, the Dormaa Central Municipal Police Commander in the Bono Region, has advised Muslim families to closely monitor their youth to prevent waywardness and deviant behaviour.

He said Muslim families must strictly monitor the movements and activities of their children to ensure they do not become “vagabonds and truants” and eventually turn delinquent.

“You must be interested in and check what your children do and consume so that they do not become vagabonds,” ASP Dauda advised while addressing Muslims during the Eid-ul-Adha celebration at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

He expressed concern about increasing substance abuse among the youth, warning that the use of harmful drugs could lead young people into criminal activities.

ASP Dauda therefore urged the youth to stay away from substance abuse, stressing that it could destroy their future and livelihoods.

Mallam Ali, the First Deputy Chief Imam of the Dormaa Central Municipality, also appealed to Muslims to desist from making baseless remarks and commentaries on social media, noting that unfounded statements could land them in trouble.

He entreated Muslim youth to respect the elderly in order to live long and receive Allah’s blessings. He further urged them to avoid sinful lifestyles and forgive those who might have offended them.

Baffour Oppong Asare, the Akyeamehene (sub-chief) of the Dormaa Traditional Area, appealed to Muslims to support development initiatives in the municipality.

He also cautioned residents, drivers, and travellers against littering and urged them to dispose of plastic waste in bins placed at vantage points within the Dormaa-Ahenkro township.
