Sefwi-Wiawso (W/N/R), May 12, GNA – The Western North Regional Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged members of the Civic Education Club at the Sefwi-Wiawso Nursing Training School on the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
The engagement formed part of efforts to enhance citizens’ participation in accountability and transparency to strengthen Ghana’s democratic governance.
Addressing the students, Awudu Dramani Sam, the Western North Regional Director of the NCCE, urged them to become the first line of defence against corruption by upholding the rule of law in their schools and communities.
He explained that Article 35(8) of the 1992 Constitution mandates the state to eradicate corrupt practices and encouraged students to use existing channels such as the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to report misconduct within their communities.
Richard Zula, a tutor at the school, commended the NCCE for organising the programme.
He noted that lessons on integrity and accountability must extend beyond the classroom if Ghana is to achieve meaningful national development.
