Dorkploame (V/R), May 18, GNA – The Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Mr Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, has released GH¢16,200 as emergency support for the rehabilitation of a six-unit classroom block at Dorkploame D.A. Basic School.

The intervention is aimed at restoring the facility, which suffered extensive damage following a 2023 windstorm that ripped off its roofing and rendered the structure unfit for academic work.

The classroom block was originally constructed by the non-governmental organisation, Pencils of Promise.

The deterioration of the building had disrupted teaching and learning activities for several years, compelling pupils and teachers to operate under challenging conditions.

In response to formal appeals from school authorities and community leadership, Mr Lukutor authorised the immediate release of funds for the re-roofing and structural restoration of the facility.

Rehabilitation works commenced on May 11, 2026, with contractors currently on site.

The project is expected to be completed shortly, paving the way for pupils to return to their classrooms and resume normal academic activities.

The intervention forms part of a broader educational infrastructure assessment and support programme by the MP to identify and address critical facility gaps across the South Tongu Constituency.

School authorities and community leaders have lauded the intervention, describing it as timely and responsive to a long-standing challenge that had affected teaching and learning outcomes in the area.
