Casablanca, May 6, GNA – Morocco is modernising its healthcare system with a renewed push to expedite digital transformation through results-oriented partnership between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG), a state-owned financial institution.
Mr Amine Tehraoui, the Minister, and Mr Khalid Safir, Director General of CDG, on Tuesday jointly presided over a high-level meeting in Casablanca to fast-track reforms in the health sector.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the maiden edition of the GITEX Future Health Africa Morocco conference, happening from May 4 to 6 under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco.
The initiative aligns with the King’s directives that position healthcare reform as a national priority and a key pillar for the successful rollout of universal social protection.
Officials said the engagement built on a strategic partnership launched in Marrakech in 2025, seeks to strengthen collaboration anchored on measurable impact and tangible results.
Mr Tehraoui noted that accelerating digital transformation would significantly improve the quality of healthcare delivery and bring services closer to citizens.
He said the approach would also enhance efficiency and transparency within the system while supporting the broader objective of building a modern and high-performing national health architecture.
Mr Safir reaffirmed CDG’s commitment to supporting the reform agenda by mobilising financial, technical, and institutional resources to drive large-scale projects, particularly in digital innovation and infrastructure development.
He stressed that such investments would ensure sustainability and improve service delivery outcomes for citizens.

The meeting featured detailed presentations on key digital platforms designed to transform healthcare management and access.
These included a national health mapping system to guide planning and resource allocation, a digital complaints management platform to boost responsiveness and transparency, and the “TARKHIS” system for streamlining approvals of medicines and health products.
It also highlighted a digital platform for coordinating emergency medical interventions to improve response times and operational efficiency.
Participants were further briefed on plans to establish a national digital health laboratory aimed at fostering innovation in health technologies and strengthening Morocco’s digital sovereignty.
The gathering concluded with the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding to formalise the next phase of cooperation and expand ongoing projects.
Amongst them was a key partnership to scale up and upgrade the country’s emergency medical assistance system (SAMU) across all regions.
The agreements are expected to accelerate implementation of reforms and facilitate the nationwide adoption of successful initiatives, ultimately improving access to quality healthcare services for citizens.
