Accra, Aug. 24, GNA – The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) says Producer Price Inflation (PPI) rose to 4.0 per cent in July 2026.

The rate increased from 3.5 per cent in June 2026, indicating that, on average, prices received by domestic producers for goods and services were 4.0 per cent higher than in July 2025.

The GSS said in its latest release that the Producer Price Index, which measures changes in prices received by domestic producers, rose to 272.6 in July from 267.4 in June and 262.2 in July 2025.

On a month-on-month basis, producer inflation increased by 2.0 per cent in July, reversing the 3.7 per cent decline recorded in June.

The Industry sector, excluding Construction, recorded a year-on-year inflation rate of 5.6 per cent in July, up from 3.3 per cent in June, making it the sector with the highest annual rate among the three sectors.

The Construction sector recorded 4.8 per cent, marginally lower than the 4.9 per cent recorded in June, while the Services sector recorded 2.5 per cent, down slightly from 2.6 per cent.

On a monthly basis, Industry excluding Construction recorded a 4.0 per cent increase, while Construction and Services each recorded increases of 0.2 per cent.

The July figures indicate an increase in price pressures at the producer level, with sustained

increases potentially affecting consumer prices depending on prevailing market conditions.

The PPI serves as an important economic indicator for tracking price movements at the producer level before they reached consumers.

The data is used by policymakers, businesses and investors to assess inflationary trends, production costs and broader economic conditions.

The July release was compiled from price data collected from 603 producers across the country, covering 2,639 products and services.

The GSS said the July figures were provisional and could be revised when additional data became available.
