Takoradi, May 04, GNA – Mr Frederick F. Faidoo, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), in the Western Region has urged the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the metropolis to write the examination with confidence and give off their best.

He was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a monitoring tour of some of the examination centres in the metropolis.

He was accompanied by officials from the Metro Education Directorate, and some staff from the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA).

This year, a total of 5,393 students made up of 2,611 males and 2,782 females from 145 schools are sitting for this year’s BECE at 18 centres, with 179 supervisors within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

Mr Faidoo reminded the students that the examination was for them to give accounts of all that they had been taught throughout their basic education levels and asked them to feel relaxed and answer the questions and pass with distinction.

He expressed confidence that the candidates would perform better this year than the previous years.

The MCE advised them to abide by the rules and regulations governing the examination, while adhering to written and oral instructions to avoid getting their papers cancelled.

Mr Edmund Aggrey-Forson, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Director of Education, also encouraged the candidates not to indulge themselves in any examination malpractices.

He said: “The Director-General has asked us to ensure incident-free examination in terms of malpractices, so that is what we are working to achieve.”

He asked them to be focused and write the exams successfully to put Sekondi-Takoradi among the best performing districts.
