Odumase-Krobo (E/R), May 4, GNA – Nene Sakite II, Konor (Paramount chief) of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area and the President of Eastern Regional house of chief, has raised concern over potential security risks to critical national installations, calling for increased police presence in the municipality.
He said facilities such as the Kpong Dam, Kpong Water Works, and the railway line remained strategic assets that required constant protection.
Nene Sakite II made the remarks during the commissioning of a new Krobo Divisional Police Headquaters at Laasi in Odumase which was attended by President John Dramani Mahama.
“We must protect and preserve these national facilities at all cost,” he stressed, noting that increasing population and economic activity in the area heightened the need for improved security.
He explained that the new command would enhance the operational strength of the Ghana Police Service, improve response time, and reinforce safety in the municipality.
The Konor commended the government and the Ministry of the Interior for what he described as a timely intervention.
He also acknowledged the role of the Manya Krobo Foundation and paid tribute to the late Dr Edward A. Narh of Narh-Bita Hospital an. Mr Annor Boatey for their contributions to the project.
Nene Sakite II further called for stronger collaboration between residents and the police, emphasising that safeguarding the municipality was a shared responsibility.
