Keta (VR), May 13, GNA – The Keta Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has rescheduled the sod- cutting ceremony for five major infrastructure projects at the Keta Senior High Technical School (Ketasco) on Friday, May 15, 2026.
The ceremony, which was set to commenced at 1000 hours at the Ketasco premises, would be expected to be presided over by major stakeholders including President John Dramani Mahama, who would lead the sod-cutting initiative to officially commence the works.
Mr Wonder Setsoafia Deynu, the Keta Constituency Deputy Public Relation Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), told the Ghana News Agency, that the sod-cutting ceremony which was originally scheduled to place on Monday, April 29, was further rescheduled by stakeholders of the assembly.
“The postponement was necessitated by President John Dramani Mahama’s visit to Fuveme in the Anloga District, a community severely affected by tidal wave destruction which coincided with the original date,” he said.
Mr Deynu stated that the projects earmarked for construction in Ketasco include a multipurpose assembly hall, a dining hall with kitchen, a two-storey science laboratory fitted with equipment, a three-storey 18-unit classroom block, and a steel bridge.
He said that the projects are expected to significantly upgrade the school’s infrastructure and enhance the overall learning environment for students and staff.
He explained that multipurpose assembly hall would provide a large indoor space for academic, cultural, and co-curricular activities to address a long-standing gap that has limited the school’s capacity to host major events.
“A dining hall with a fully equipped kitchen is also planned to improve feeding arrangements, to ensure students have access to a hygienic and well-organised facility for meals.”
Mr Deynu said that a two-storey science laboratory with equipment would be expected to strengthen practical science education, supporting improved performance in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines.
He said the three-storey 18-unit classroom block would help address the school’s growing student population and reduce overcrowding in existing facilities.
He stated that ceremony would be attended by Volta Regional Minister Mr James Gunu, Keta MP Mr Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr Wisdom Seade, assembly members, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the assembly would also proceed and cut the sod-cut for roads construction work and steel bridge connecting Atiavi, Tsiame and Abor in the Municipality to boost economic activities and improve the residents’ quality of life.
The public, including chiefs, assembly members, among others, were urged to attend the ceremony in their numbers to grace the ceremony.
