GWL announces temporary water supply interruptions following Weija Plant challenges

Accra, May 13, GNA – Ghana Water Limited has announced temporary water supply interruptions in parts of western Accra following technical challenges at the Weija Water Treatment Plant.

A press statement issued by the company and signed by Mr. Stanley Martey, Chief Manager, Public Relations and Communications, on Wednesday said the challenges had affected water production and distribution to several communities in the capital.

The affected areas include Dansoman, Mamprobi, Mataheko, Laterbiokorshie, Korle-Bu, La Paz, MacCarthy Hill, Gbawe, Mallam, Tesano, Darkuman, North Kaneshie, Dome, Achimota, Anyaa and Ablekuma, as well as surrounding communities.

Management of the company assured customers that engineers and technical teams were working to rectify the situation and restore normal water supply as early as practicable.

“Management wishes to assure the public that engineers and technical teams of Ghana Water Ltd are working assiduously to rectify the challenges and restore normal water supply as early as practicable,” the statement said.

The company advised consumers in the affected communities to store water whenever supply was available to help manage the temporary disruption.

It also urged essential service providers to liaise with their Assembly Members or contact the Ghana Water call centre for assistance through its toll-free line 0800 40 000 on Telecel networks or the alternative lines 0302218240, 0207385087, 0207385088, 0207385089 and 0207385090.

Customers are also encouraged to use the company’s social media platforms for updates and additional information on the situation.

Management apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience caused and appealed for calm and cooperation while efforts were underway to resolve the challenge.
