Accra, May 4, GNA – Medeama SC moved closer to clinching the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) title after a commanding 2-0 victory over Bibiani Gold Stars FC at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium.
Midfielder Salim Adams was the standout performer, scoring twice, first from the penalty spot before curling home a superb free kick to secure all three points and extend Medeama’s lead at the top to five points with four matches left.
Accra Hearts of Oak kept their title hopes alive with a hard-fought 1-0 away win against Nations FC at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex. Mawuli Wayo struck early in the 11th minute, and Hearts held firm thereafter to maintain their push for a top three finish, while Nations’ relegation concerns deepened.
At the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Karela United FC secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Young Apostles FC. Abdulai Hafiz opened the scoring before Richmond Opoku equalised for the visitors, but Rahman Yaya netted a stoppage-time winner to hand Karela a crucial boost in their survival bid.
Dreams FC continued their impressive form with a 2-0 win over Asante Kotoko SC at the Tuba Astroturf. Goals from Oumar Nafal in the first half and Ebenezer Adade after the break condemned Kotoko to another disappointing away result.
Aduana FC and Heart of Lions FC shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park. The result saw Aduana drop out of the top four, while Heart of Lions remained in mid-table.
FC Samartex 1996 strengthened their push for a top-four finish with a 3-1 victory over Basake Holy Stars FC at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena. Early goals from Akwasi Sarpong and Francis Gyetuah set the tone before Christian Agyenim Boateng sealed the win to extend Samartex’s winning run to three matches.
