Accra, May 9, GNA – The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will conduct a joint military exercise in the Bono and Upper East Regions from May 10 to May 20 to strengthen operational readiness.
A press release from the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp, said the exercise is aimed at enhancing rapid-response capabilities against contemporary security threats.
The statement was signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Ghana Navy, Acting Director General of Public Relations.
It said the exercise, codenamed “Exercise Storm Shield 2026”, would involve the Ghana Army, Ghana Navy and Ghana Air Force.
The statement described the operation as an Internal Security and Counter-Insurgency Field Training Exercise designed to improve troop preparedness to respond effectively to emerging security challenges.
It noted that residents in the Bono and Upper East Regions may observe increased military activity during the period and advised the public not to panic but to continue their normal activities.
The GAF reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the territorial integrity, peace, and security of the country.
