Dambai (O/R), May 10, GNA – The Evangelical Church of Ghana (ECG) Hospital in Krachi East has inaugurated a new surgical unit, with medical officials urging the public to access the facility with confidence in the quality of care being provided.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Dr Joseph Sonlaar, a Medical Doctor at the hospital, announced that the facility had commenced surgical services aimed at serving residents within the district and neighbouring communities.

He said the establishment of the unit formed part of efforts to bring specialised healthcare closer to the people and reduce referrals to other places.

“The hospital is now equipped to handle a range of surgical cases. We are appealing to Ghanaians to patronise the facility without fear. Our team is trained, our standards are high, and patient safety remains our top priority,” Dr. Sonlaar stated.

He explained that the surgical unit would offer both elective and emergency procedures, supported by trained medical personnel, modern equipment, and strict infection prevention protocols.

According to him, the initiative would significantly reduce the cost and stress associated with travelling long distances for surgery.

He emphasized that the hospital has launched a one-week free surgery campaign.

Dr Sonlaar stated that the response had been encouraging, with the facility attending to more than 100 patients daily during the period, while several patients had already undergone free surgical procedures.

He assured the public that services at the unit would be delivered professionally, transparently, and in accordance with national healthcare standards.

He also encouraged community members to visit the hospital for consultation and screening to determine the appropriate care required.

Mr Nelson Kofi Djabab, Member of Parliament (MP) of Krachi East, who toured the facility, praised the Evangelical Church of Ghana for putting up what he described as a befitting edifice in his constituency.

He noted that the development would improve healthcare delivery and reduce the burden on patients who previously had to travel outside the district to access surgical care.
