Accra, May 14, GNA – Debibi United completed a historic qualification to Ghana’s top flight after defeating Tamale City 3-1 in the Access Bank Division One League playoff final to secure promotion to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League.
Tamale City took a first-half lead at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday and appeared on course for an immediate return to the Premier League.
But Debibi United turned the match around after the break with striker Kwadwo Antwi scoring three times to overturn the deficit and hand Debibi United their first-ever promotion to the top division.
The win confirmed Debibi United as one of three clubs to earn promotion from the Division One League this season.
Port City clinched the Zone Three title, while FC AshantiGold 04 finished top of Zone Two to also book places in the Premier League.
All three clubs will compete in the Ghana Premier League for the first time in their history, marking a new era for the debutants when the 2026/27 season gets underway.
