Aflao (VR), May 2, GNA – Mr. Daniel Jerry Sorokpo, a Board Member of the Volta Regional Lands Commission, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Ketu South Constituency Vice Chairmanship position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Sorokpo, who is also a professional teacher and seasoned researcher, is widely regarded as one of the most experienced figures within the constituency.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, he announced his bid ahead of the upcoming 2026 constituency elections and urged eligible party delegates to rally behind him for victory.
“As a long-standing loyalist, I played a vital role in the party’s successful campaign during the 2024 general election. My political journey has been deeply shaped by mentorship from party members, and I am here to serve our beloved party to the best of my ability,” he said.
He noted that through working and studying closely with many party hierarchies over the years, he had come to appreciate that serving the NDC requires vision, dedication, and unity to restore Ketu South to its rightful status and improve development in the constituency.
He emphasised that his decision was driven by a desire to provide effective support to the party, reshape its fortunes, and uplift its standards ahead of the 2028 general elections in and around Ketu South.
“My aim is to collaborate with the executive team to introduce fresh ideas that will elevate the constituency to a higher level,” he added.
Mr. Sorokpo further pledged to serve as a servant leader, ensuring that the concerns of branch executives, grassroots supporters, and stakeholders are amplified at all levels of the party’s decision-making structures.
He highlighted that his focus areas would include enhancing employment opportunities for the youth and improving accessibility, which would be major priorities of his administration, alongside restructuring and improving welfare opportunities for all branch executives.
He promised to prioritise job creation, accessibility, and the welfare of branch executives, as well as unite and mobilise the base to strengthen the party for victory in 2028.
Mr. Sorokpo appealed to grassroots party faithful and branch executives—whom he described as the vital pillars of the party’s success—to support his leadership bid for the advancement of the party.
He urged all to support his ambition and work together in service to God, the NDC, and the country to build the nation in unity, adding that, “My victory will be a victory for the party and for all citizens towards development.”
