Akatsi (V/R), May 26, GNA — The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has begun the installation of a telecommunications mast at Torve in the Akatsi South Constituency to improve internet and mobile network connectivity in underserved communities.

The project, situated at Torve, a gateway community within the constituency, is expected to enhance network coverage and digital access for residents and businesses in neighbouring communities, including Nugblebi and Agordoe.

Mr. Bernard Ahiafor, Member of Parliament for Akatsi South and First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, has welcomed the intervention, describing it as a significant step toward resolving the long-standing connectivity challenges facing the area.

He stated that the project forms part of broader efforts to expand digital infrastructure and bridge communication gaps in underserved communities.

According to Mr. Ahiafor, the installation of the mast would greatly improve connectivity across the constituency, noting that the intervention had been “a long time coming” and would benefit both residents and businesses.

He further explained that although the installation exercise is currently taking place at Torve, it is part of a wider strategy aimed at extending connectivity improvements to other strategic locations within the constituency.

He added that additional communities experiencing similar network challenges would also benefit from the programme.

Mr. Ahiafor expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation and GIFEC, under the leadership of Mr. Rashid Computer Tanko, for their commitment to expanding ICT infrastructure across the country.
