Dzodze (V/R), May 15, GNA-Mr Eric Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North, has announced the sponsorship of a Teacher Capacity Improvement Programme.
The sponsorship aims at supporting teachers within the constituency to meet the 2025 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements of the National Teaching Council (NTC).
The initiative is in line with the NTC’s 2025 CPD guidelines, which require all teachers to earn 20 CPD points annually, including 46 points from specialised and targeted programmes.
In a statement signed by the MP, Mr Agbana said the programme formed part of his commitment to improving the quality of education and strengthening the professional capacity of teachers in the constituency.
“As the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, I strongly believe that teachers are the foundation of quality education and the transformation of our communities,” he stated.
The programme is expected to benefit about 1,200 teachers and education staff drawn from all public Basic Schools, Senior High Schools and the Ketu North Municipal Education Directorate.
According to the statement, the intervention would involve termly workshops and practical training sessions designed to improve teaching quality, leadership effectiveness, classroom management and learner outcomes.
The training programme is being facilitated by Bismark Tay Leadership Solutions (BTLS), an internationally recognised training institution accredited by both the National Teaching Council and the Local Government Service.
The statement noted that BTLS has extensive experience in teacher development, leadership training and educational improvement initiatives.
Under the programme, Basic School teachers would receive training in positive discipline, classroom management, learner assessment and test item preparation.
Senior High School teachers would also be trained on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve teaching and learning outcomes, while teachers in administrative positions and education office staff would undertake sessions in educational leadership and people management.
The workshop schedule released by the organisers indicated that training for Basic School teachers would take place from May 18 to May 22, 2026, and continue on June 1, 2026.
Training for senior high school teachers is scheduled for June 2 to June 5, while sessions for teachers in administration and education office staff would be held on June 10, 2026.
Mr Agbana described the programme as a major investment in the future of education in Ketu North.
“This programme is a clear reflection of my commitment to our teachers and my passion for improving education in Ketu North. By empowering our educators, we are investing in the future of our children and building a stronger constituency for generations to come,” he said.
He encouraged teachers, head teachers, education officers and all stakeholders in the education sector to take advantage of the initiative and participate fully in the training sessions.
