Adidome (V/R), May 08, GNA — Management of Adidome Senior High School (ADISEC) has appealed for urgent support to address worsening sanitation and infrastructure challenges confronting the school as student population continues to increase.
The headmaster of the school, Dr Vincent Atiku, said the institution’s only public toilet facility, constructed nearly 40 years ago during the establishment of the school, had deteriorated significantly and was no longer suitable for use by students.
According to him, the condition of the facility had become a major health and hygiene concern, particularly for female students, who continued to face difficulties accessing safe and decent sanitation facilities on campus.
Dr Atiku noted that the situation required immediate intervention to prevent possible health complications and improve the welfare of students.
He appealed to government, corporate institutions, old students, and other stakeholders in the education sector to support the construction of a modern and hygienic toilet facility for the school.
Beyond the sanitation challenge, the headmaster said the school was also struggling with overcrowded dormitories, inadequate classroom furniture, poor internal road networks, and limited accommodation for staff.
He explained that although ADISEC had maintained a strong reputation for academic excellence and inclusive education for visually impaired students, infrastructure development had not kept pace with increasing enrolment.
Dr Atiku stressed the need for sustained investment in educational infrastructure to create a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
Founded in 1985, Adidome Senior High School currently serves more than 2,000 students drawn from different parts of the country.
