Dambai (O/R), May 19, GNA – A 43-year-old resident of Kadentwe, a farming community in the Kete-Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region, is appealing for urgent financial and material support to continue his medical treatment after undergoing multiple surgeries.
Mr Patrick Abdullah is currently on admission at the Nkwanta South Municipal Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
Medical authorities say he is battling severe complications arising from typhoid perforation. Due to the seriousness of his condition and the surgeries he has undergone, he is now living with an ileostomy—a surgical procedure that diverts digestive waste through an opening in the abdominal wall (stoma)—making his recovery difficult and prolonged.
In support of his treatment, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, Mr Joseph Awal Antwi, donated GH¢2,000 to the hospital management to assist with Mr Abdullah’s immediate medical needs.
Mr Antwi also appealed to the public to support the patient in settling his outstanding hospital bills and treatment costs.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Antwi said he came across the appeal on social media following a call for assistance by the hospital
He noted that the Assembly, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for the Nkwanta South Constituency, Mr Geoffrey Kini, was moved by the patient’s condition and decided to offer support.
Despite the intervention, Mr Antwi stressed that additional assistance was needed to cover the full cost of treatment.
He appealed to individuals, groups and benevolent organisations to support Mr Abdullah with cash donations, food items, drinking water, blood donations and other essential supplies to aid his recovery.
The Medical Officer in charge of the facility, Dr William Kudiewu, also appealed to the public for assistance, noting that the patient required continuous medical care.
He said Mr Abdullah had undergone multiple surgeries and continued to face serious health complications, which had delayed his recovery.
Mr Abdullah expressed gratitude to the MCE, hospital management and all individuals who had supported him so far.
He appealed for further assistance, saying such support would be crucial in helping him complete his treatment and regain his health.
