Tema, May 01, GNA — The Tema Metropolitan Education Directorate says a total of 3,694 candidates are sitting for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Tema Metropolis.
The candidates comprise 1,775 boys and 1,919 girls drawn from both public and private basic schools across the metropolis.
They are writing the examination at designated centres, including Chemu Senior High School, Tema Presbyterian Senior High School, Our Lady of Mercy Senior High School (OLAMS), and Manhean Senior High/Technical School, among others.
Mrs Bernice Ofori, the Tema Metropolitan Education Director, has commended the candidates for their dedication and resilience throughout their academic journey.
In a goodwill message, she encouraged them to approach the examination with confidence, assuring them that their hard work would yield positive results.
“Your hard work, dedication, and resilience have brought you to this pivotal moment. Approach these exams with confidence, knowing that your efforts will pave the way to a bright future,” she stated.
Mrs Ofori assured the candidates of the support of the Ghana Education Service and urged them to remain focused, disciplined and composed throughout the examination period.
She expressed pride in the candidates and wished them success, encouraging them to strive for academic excellence.
