Dambai (O/R), April 23, GNA- Residents of Abotareye in the Nkwanta South Municipality have appealed for potable water and decent classroom facilities, pleading that the worsening situation is affecting livelihoods, education and general well-being.
Women and girls are the hardest hit, waking up at dawn and spending many hours in long queues in search of water, a struggle that is slowing productivity and forcing many school children to report late.
At the Abotareye M/A Basic School, the situation is equally dire, as weak and inadequate classroom structures disrupt lessons, especially during rainfall, often forcing early closure of classes.

The concerns were raised during an engagement with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr Joseph Awal Antwi, where residents called for urgent intervention from government and development partners.
Responding, Mr Antwi attributed delays in water provision partly to home burial practices, which he said limited access to suitable land for borehole projects.
He, however, assured the community that the Assembly would roll out new classroom projects, with Abotareye expected to benefit.
Residents said until action was taken, access to clean water and safe learning spaces will remain a daily struggle
