GAF Compensates Injured UN Peacekeepers with $43,120

Accra, April 23, GNA – The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has presented financial compensation to three injured United Nations peacekeepers at a ceremony in Accra.

Warrant Officer Class Two (WOII) Ocran Alfred, Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Arddey Oblie Solomon, and Sergeant (Sgt) Kornu Eric Romeo received a combined total of 43,120 US dollars at the Command Mess, Burma Camp, Accra, on Tuesday.

WOII Ocran Alfred, who was injured while serving in Lebanon under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL GH 89), received 30,030 dollars.

SSgt Arddey Oblie Solomon, injured during his deployment in Mali with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA GHANENGRCOY 10), received 6,160 dollars.

Sgt Kornu Eric Romeo, wounded in South Sudan while serving with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA GH 1), received 6,930 dollars.

Presenting the funds on behalf of the Military High Command, Commodore Francis Nyarko, Director General of Human Resources at General Headquarters, lauded the leadership of GAF for its swift and compassionate action.

He reiterated the military’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel, both at home and on international missions.

“This support goes beyond mere financial relief; it is a symbol of our national gratitude for the dedication, courage, and selflessness demonstrated by our soldiers in the line of duty,” he said.

WOII Ocran, on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed heartfelt thanks to the Military High Command for the timely intervention.

“This gesture has brought significant relief to us and our families, strengthening our pride in serving the nation,” he said.
