Kwahu Abetifi, April 15, GNA – The Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG) has matriculated 2,058 fresh students into its various academic programmes, with a call on them to uphold discipline, integrity, and compassion in their professional journey.
Out of the number, 643 students were enrolled into the Faculty of Medical Sciences, 278 into the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the Asante Akyem campus and the rest into the various disciplines.
Professor John Ofosu-Anim, Vice-Chancellor of the University, said matriculation signified the formal entry into a university and marked a significant milestone in the lives of students.
The Vice-Chancellor urged the matriculants to strive for excellence in their chosen fields, with dedication and commitment while embracing critical thinking and innovation.
He observed that the healthcare landscape for instance was constantly evolving and required professionals who were well-equipped with knowledge, skills, and ethical values to respond to emerging challenges.
That he said was what the PUG stood for and encouraged the students to take advantage of the training provided by the University to develop both professionally and personally to meet the demanding trends in society.
Prof. Ofosu-Anim reminded them of the University’s core values of Excellence, Commitment, Integrity, Discipline and Faith in God, urging them to uphold these principles throughout their academic journey.
“Keep faith in God alive and you will never regret, because He is the Alpha and Omega,” he added.
