Wuxor (V/R), April 10, GNA-An 80-year-old woman from Wuxor Battor in the Ayiwata Electoral Area of the North Tongu District is currently in critical condition at a health facility in Tagadzi, following significant delays in accessing emergency medical care.

Madam Fidelia Abodzo was rushed to the facility after her condition deteriorated.

The access to timely care was severely hindered by the poor nature of the road, which became nearly impassable after a heavy downpour.

Eyewitnesses indicated that, in the absence of motorable access, residents had to carry the victim in a cloth, navigating through deep stagnant water that had engulfed portions of the road, in a desperate attempt to get her to a health facility.

Madam Mawuena Morti, Assembly Member for the Ayiwata Electoral Area, described the situation as deeply concerning, noting that such conditions continue to pose serious risks to lives within the community.

“This unfortunate development underscores the urgent need for intervention. No individual should be subjected to such distress in accessing healthcare due to poor infrastructure,” she stated.

She has therefore called on the North Tongu District Assembly and relevant authorities to take immediate steps to rehabilitate the road network in the area to ensure timely access to essential services.

Madam Morti appealed to stakeholders and development partners to support ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, stressing that proactive measures are critical to safeguarding lives and enhancing the wellbeing of residents.
