Abetifi (E/R), April 7, GNA – The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has prioritised Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) safety education and clean cooking advocacy during the 2026 Kwahu Easter festivities.
The initiative focused on sensitising the public on safe LPG use, consumer protection, and the promotion of clean energy within the growing local poultry industry.
Mr Effah Osei Bonsu, Municipal Chief Executive for Kwahu South, speaking at a sensitisation forum, described the intervention as timely and impactful in advancing local enterprise and public safety.

He commended the National Broiler Secretariat and the Municipal Assembly for providing a platform to highlight the importance of the poultry sector, and urged the NPA to deepen its advocacy on Nkoko Akɛseɛ and the “Cook it Right” campaign.
Mr Osei Bonsu also praised the Chief Executive of the NPA, Mr Godwin Kudzo Edudzi Tameklo, for the Authority’s continued institutional support.
As part of its regulatory mandate, the NPA carried out sensitisation activities at major centres, including the Kwahu Business Forum, the Kwahu Food Village at Mpraeso, Abetifi, Nkwatia and the Chicken Festival (Nkoko Akɛseɛ) Village.
The engagements covered LPG safety, consumer rights, complaint resolution mechanisms, and the dangers of fuel siphoning, with emphasis on prioritising fuel quality over quantity.
Patrons, food vendors, and other stakeholders were provided with practical guidance on the safe handling and use of petroleum products.

Leading the NPA delegation, Mrs. Eunice Budu-Nyarko, Director of Consumer Services, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to protecting lives and property through sustained public education, especially during large gatherings.
Mr. Kelvin Ocran, National Coordinator of the National Broiler Project Directorate, underscored the critical role of LPG in ensuring efficient and hygienic food preparation within the poultry value chain.
“Cooking it right is essential,” he said.
Mr. Ocran said LPG use improved efficiency, enhanced hygiene, reduced reliance on charcoal and firewood, and contributed to improved public health outcomes.
He said increasing demand for locally produced chicken required reliable and safe LPG supply to sustain the industry.
