Accra, Sept. 9, GNA – The Ministry of Finance said all 6,300 Ghana Education Service (GES) staff recruited in 2024 without financial clearance have been paid their outstanding salaries.
The Ministry, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said it had taken note of an appeal by the Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Staff of the GES regarding outstanding salary arrears.
It said the Government inherited the 6,300 GES staff in 2025 following their recruitment in 2024 without the requisite financial clearance.
The Ministry subsequently secured Cabinet approval and issued the required financial clearance to facilitate the payment of the affected staff.
The statement said the payments were made in four tranches as part of measures to address the salary concerns of the affected personnel.
“All 6,300 staff covered by the arrangement have since been paid,” it said, adding that currently no outstanding requests for financial clearance from the GES were awaiting action by the Ministry of Finance.
The statement, therefore, clarified that the salary payment arrangement for the 6,300 staff had been completed.
It said any staff member who continued to have an unresolved salary or arrears issued should contact the GES for assistance.
Such issues could relate to relevant payroll or administrative matters requiring attention by the GES, it added.
The statement urged the affected staff to engage the Service directly to facilitate the resolution of any individual concerns regarding their salaries or arrears.
It said the clarification was intended to provide accurate information on the status of the salary payments and the role of the Ministry of Finance.
