Ho (V/R), April 13, GNA — Nania FC from Accra secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Home Stars in Ho Sports Stadium in a tense league encounter played at the latter’s home ground.
The match, which was staged on April 12, attracted a sizeable number of supporters, was characterised by cautious play from both sides, with limited clear-cut chances throughout proceedings.
Home Stars dominated possession for large spells of the game, controlling the midfield and dictating the tempo, but failed to convert their chances into goals.
Nania FC, however, capitalised on a defensive lapse to score the only goal of the match, silencing the home crowd and securing all three points.
Speaking after the game, Mr Bright Dennis Ansah, Head Coach of Home Stars, expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the match officials.
“This kind officiating is spoiling our beautiful game. The authorities should sit up early because the earlier, the better,” he stated.
He called on the Regional Football Association (RFA) and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to take decisive steps to address concerns about refereeing standards.
Mr Ansah noted that some key decisions during the match affected the outcome and undermined the efforts of his players.
Captain of Home Stars, Mr Ronaid Numenya, said the team executed its tactical plans but was unfortunate not to secure a positive result.
“We did everything we thought would work for us to get a win, but it didn’t work. It’s just one of those days,” he explained.
He added that the team would regroup and focus on improving in subsequent matches.
Meanwhile, a section of supporters expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome, with some making unverified allegations against the club’s management.
They claimed the match may have been influenced by underhand dealings, though no evidence has been provided to substantiate the accusations.
Officials of Home Stars have not yet responded to the claims, as calls continue for calm and restraint among supporters.
The result leaves Home Stars under pressure to bounce back in their next fixture, while Nania FC strengthens its position in the league standings.
