Accra, April 27, GNA Mr. Prince Kofi Amoabeng, a renowned Ghanaian entrepreneur, has urged behavioural change among local entrepreneurs to complement government-led business initiatives.
He said while fiscal policies, regulatory reforms and economic stimulus programmes were vital, real national development depended largely on how businesses operated, how quickly they responded to needs, and how much value they create for society.
Mr. Amoabeng made these remarks at a high-profile entrepreneurship and business leadership awards ceremony in Accra.
The event was attended by business executives, policymakers and industrial leaders from across the country, during which individuals and institutions were honoured for their contributions to Ghana’s economic and social development.
According to Mr. Amoabeng , growth must be driven by efficiency, innovation and respect for people, particularly their time.
He explained that development could be best understood as the art and science of saving time, noting that human beings were naturally inclined to seek efficiency and quality of life.
He said people did not only want more time, but good time, defined by dignity, respect, health, knowledge and opportunity.
Mr. Amoabeng noted that countries developed when systems and institutions were structured to reduce delays, waste and inefficiencies that prevent citizens from being productive.
Mr. Amoabeng observed that businesses played a critical role in achieving this goal, as they interfaced directly with citizens through services, products and employment.
He urged entrepreneurs to constantly assess how their processes saved time for customers, staff and partners, stressing that responsiveness and professionalism were not optional but essential for competitiveness in a modern economy.
He added that innovation goes beyond technology and includes redesigning workflows, delivery methods and decision-making structures to better serve people.
Mr. Amoabeng emphasised that strong organisational culture was the foundation of sustainable enterprise, calling on business owners to intentionally build cultures anchored in professionalism, innovation and mutual respect.
