Dambai (O/R), April 3, GNA – Mr Safo Nketia, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi East, has initiated the rehabilitation of a key road network linking Cement through Kpogede and Aziziakpe, in a move aimed at improving transportation for fishing communities in the Municipality.
The project is expected to enhance the movement of goods and services, particularly benefiting local fishermen by easing access to markets and enabling quicker transport of fresh fish to urban centres.
When completed, the upgraded road will significantly reduce travel time and vehicle maintenance costs for residents, while boosting economic activities across the beneficiary communities.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Mr Nketia said the intervention formed part of broader efforts to improve rural infrastructure and stimulate local economic growth.
The MCE disclosed that the initiative reflected government’s commitment to inclusive development and improved livelihoods in rural and fishing communities within the Krachi East municipality.
Community leaders had welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the improved road will transform trade, attract investment and create opportunities for youth entrepreneurship in the area.
The rehabilitation works would involve reshaping and upgrading the existing dirt road, including grading the surface and constructing drainage systems to prevent erosion and ensure durability, especially during heavy seasonal use.
The Municipal Assembly had also earmarked funds for routine maintenance to sustain the road’s condition and maximize its long-term benefits.
