Keta (V/R), April 23, GNA – The Keta Municipal Assembly chapter of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has held its local union elections to elect new executives to steer the affairs of the association for the next term.
The exercise, held at the Keta Municipal Assembly Hall, was conducted to elect new leaders of the union.
In the contest for the CLOGSAG Organising Secretary position, Mr Ekow Triumph polled 59 votes to beat Madam Yayra Bessah, who secured 48 votes, with one ballot rejected.
For the Chairmanship position, the incumbent Mr Jones Nketiah retained his seat with 79 votes, defeating Mr Selorm Adigbli, who obtained 27 votes, with one ballot rejected. A total of 107 staff participated in the exercise.
The results confirmed Mr Jones Nketiah and Mr Ekow Triumph as Chairman and Organising Secretary respectively, and they were immediately sworn into office by Mr Godwin Tettey, acting on behalf of the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Seth Kpodji.
Mr Godwin Tettey, the Municipal Director of Agriculture and Chairman of the occasion, commended members for a successful election, noting that it reflected unity among CLOGSAG staff in the area.
He urged members to support the elected leaders with integrity and dedication, emphasising that unity, cooperation, and continuous dialogue between management and staff remain critical for effective service delivery at the Assembly.
The Volta Regional Secretary of CLOGSAG, Mr Ernest Sakyi, who was present, charged the Physical Planning and Works Departments to improve performance and expressed optimism about ongoing engagements between CLOGSAG and government.
He urged the elected executives to work beyond expectations to improve the welfare of members within the area.
Some members expressed satisfaction with the transparency and peaceful conduct of the elections, noting the encouraging voter turnout and absence of disturbances.
Mr Nketiah and Mr Triumph, in their acceptance remarks, thanked staff for the renewed mandate and pledged to promote unity and champion the welfare of all members.
They called for collective support to advance the interests of CLOGSAG within the Keta Municipal Assembly.
