Jasikan (O/R), April 13, GNA – Nana Edje Tete Kpase-Brantuo VII, Jasikanhene, has described the ordination and installation of Most Rev. Simon Kofi Appiah as Bishop of the Jasikan Catholic Diocese as a divine honour and a moment of profound significance for the people of Buem.

He said the elevation of Bishop Appiah, a native of the area, symbolised not only personal spiritual achievement but also collective pride for the people, who regard his journey as a testament to God’s grace and favour.

In a goodwill message delivered during the ordination ceremony at Jasikan in the Oti Region, Nana Kpase-Brantuo VII commended the Bishop’s lifelong dedication to service, humility, and faith, noting that these virtues mirrored the core values upheld by the Buem traditional area.

“Your life of service, humility, and dedication reflects the cherished values of our ancestors—integrity, compassion, and wisdom,” he stated.

The Chief likened the Bishop’s new role to a central tree in a community, which provides shelter and stability, expressing confidence that his leadership would offer strength, guidance, and refuge to both the Catholic faithful and the wider society.

Nana Kpase-Brantuo VII emphasised the enduring partnership between traditional authorities and the Church, acknowledging the Church’s contributions to peacebuilding, moral guidance, and socio-economic development.

He assured Bishop Appiah of the full support of the traditional council in promoting unity, harmony, and shared progress within the diocese and beyond.

“As you ascend this sacred office, we invoke the blessings of the Almighty God and the goodwill of our forebears upon your ministry. May your path be guided with wisdom, your heart strengthened with courage, and your service crowned with lasting impact,” he added.

The Appiah family of Teteman-Buem, the Bishop’s hometown, also conveyed their congratulations and prayers, expressing gratitude to God for his elevation and pledging their unwavering support for his mission.

Most Rev. Appiah becomes the second Bishop of the Jasikan Catholic Diocese, taking over the pastoral responsibility of guiding the clergy and laity in the region.

The colourful ceremony attracted clergy, traditional leaders, family members, and well-wishers from across the country, marking a significant milestone in the spiritual life of the Diocese and the people of Buem.
