Accra, April 5, GNA- The Reverend Canon Andrew N.A. Torgbor, an Anglican Minister at the Ridge Church in Accra, has urged Ghanaians to embrace forgiveness, unity and hope as key lessons from Easter.
He called on the citizens, particularly the political class, to draw lessons from the season by fostering unity and working towards the collective good of the nation.
He said the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolised freedom from sin, renewal of life and assurance of God’s constant presence, which should reflect in the daily lives of Christians.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Sunday after the Easter service, Rev. Canon Torgbor described Easter as the “queen of all festivals” in the Christian calendar, noting that it represented hope, salvation and divine grace.
“Christ died and resurrected, and by that He has paid the price for our sins and set us free. That is the gift Easter brings to us,” he said.
Beyond redemption, the resurrection assures believers of God’s abiding presence and victory over challenges. “He has not only set us free, but He is always with us and will never forsake us. Through His resurrection, we also have the assurance of life after death,” he stated.
Rev. Canon Torgbor said the significance of Easter should inspire Christians to live exemplary lives by showing love and tolerance towards one another.
“When we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Therefore, we must accept and forgive each other and live in peace,” he said.
“Christ is telling us there is hope. Because He lives, we can face tomorrow. Life is worth living because of His resurrection.”
Easter is celebrated by Christians worldwide to commemorate the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, events that form the foundation of the Christian faith.
The period is marked by reflection, prayer and renewed commitment to righteous living.
