Accra, April 23, GNA – Inclusive Tech Group, in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), and the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, has presented 13 laptops and tablets to female persons with disabilities in Somanya in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.

The support forms part of the Digital Access and Rural Empowerment (DARE) Project under Intervention Three, which focuses on Rural Young Mother Economic Empowerment.

Funded by the Mastercard Foundation and its partners, the project seeks to equip young women aged between 15 and 35 with relevant skills and support them to transition into work.

The provision of digital devices is aimed at helping beneficiaries to move beyond training into practical economic activity.

By gaining access to the devices, the beneficiaries are expected to apply their knowledge in digital marketing and entrepreneurship, explore online opportunities, and begin earning sustainable incomes.

Mr. Joseph Aboagye, Project Coordinator for Inclusive Tech Group, told the Ghana News Agency that the organisation trained 100 females with disabilities between June and November 2025 in digital marketing and entrepreneurship.

He said the 13 beneficiaries were selected based on their performance during the training and their readiness to put the acquired skills into practice.

Mr. Richmond Atta-Williams, DARE Project Officer in charge of Capacity Building and Digital Integration at UNESCO, said the intervention was designed to ensure that young people, particularly women with disabilities, were not only trained but supported to enter the world of work.

He said the support was intended to help participants transition from learning to earning, adding that it represented a practical step towards enabling young women to participate meaningfully in the economy.

Mr. Atta-Williams noted that although 13 participants had received devices, the broader objective of the project was to support all beneficiaries to achieve sustainable livelihoods.

He said the initiative aligned with UNESCO’s commitment to inclusive and equitable education and contributed to ongoing efforts to promote youth employment.

He disclosed that there were plans to extend the intervention to the Bekwai and Gushegu municipalities to reach more participants.

Ms. Mary Oduro Dede, one of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the organisers and said the training had enhanced her skills in Microsoft Office and social media marketing.

She said the device would enable her to apply her knowledge to generate income and improve her standard of living.
