Ashaiman, March 31, GNA — In a growing shift towards comfort and practicality, some Ghanaian women are embracing trousers as their preferred fashion choice, moving away from restrictive clothing to styles that suit their daily activities.

For many, the change is driven by the need for convenience without compromising style.

“It’s a game-changer,” Miss Dorcas Acquaah, a national service personnel member at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview.

“I wear trousers to work every day. They are practical, stylish, and allow me to move freely. I no longer worry about my outfit riding up or feeling uncomfortable,” she said.

Mr Richlove Okine, a student, also highlighted the versatility of trousers.

“As a student, I am always on the go. Trousers are a lifesaver. I can attend lectures, run errands, and still look presentable. They are easy to match with almost everything,” he said.

Ms Stella Bediako, an entrepreneur, described trousers as a wardrobe essential.

“I wear them for work meetings, dates, and even family gatherings. They are easy to pair with different tops and shoes, and the styling options are endless,” she said.

Fashion observers note that trouser styles now range from wide-leg and high-waisted designs to skinny and distressed fits, with popular fabrics including cotton, linen and denim.

The increasing preference for trousers reflects a broader shift in fashion priorities among women, where comfort, flexibility and functionality are becoming just as important as aesthetics.

As more women adopt this trend, trousers are no longer seen as just a fashion statement but a staple in modern wardrobes.
